The National Association of Corporate Directors Southern California Chapter has joined ACG 101 Corridor as a major sponsor of this year's conference, promising an even bigger and better event (June 6-7 at the Warner Center Marriott in Woodland Hills).  The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), is the premier national educational, publishing and consulting organization in board leadership and the only membership association for boards, directors, director candidates and board advisors.  The Southern California Chapter is dedicated to promoting high professional board standards through forums for peer interaction and educating boards and directors concerning traditional and cutting-edge issues.  We provide a local education and networking opportunity for individuals who serve as directors of corporations and business organizations from all industrieds, public and private, profit and non-profit.

Steven Besbeck

Managing Director, Diamond Capital Advisors

Steven M Besbeck is a managing director at Diamond Capital Advisors with a focus on healthcare and medical devices.  Steven has a career spanning more than 35 years as an advisor, chief executive officer, and board member of private and public companies.  Prior to joining Diamond Capital Advisors, he was a managing director of Avant Advisory Group, a middle market financial and management consulting firm.  Steven has managed mergers, acquisitions, capital transactions, divestitures, and turnarounds.  He is proficient in medical and healthcare information technologies, services and devices and the creation of businesses that develop and market them.  As the chief executive officer of three public companies, Steven raised millions of dollars in equity and debt financing  including initial public offerings.  During his career he has completed over twenty-five acquisitions and managed the integration of their businesses.

Steven attended California State University at Long Beach and received a Bachelor of Science degree in finance.  He is credentialed as a certified director through the National Association of Corporate Directors, and is a certified merger and acquisitions advisor through the Alliance of Merger and Acquisition Advisors.  He holds FINRA Series 79 and 63 licenses.  He is certified by FINRA as a General Securities Representative.

 

 

M. Christian Mitchell

Vice Chairman, Marshall & Stevens, Inc.

Mr. Mitchell serves as the vice chairman of the Board of Directors of Marshall & Stevens. He has thirty-five years experience advising investors, federal agencies, senior management and corporate boards of directors on financial reporting, risk management, valuation, governance, regulation, capital markets and mergers and acquisitions in the financial services and real estate finance industries. He is a seasoned corporate board member, strategic advisor, and an established leader in the governance community.Mr. Mitchell is a director of Special Value Opportunities Fund LLC, an $850 million registered investment fund managed by Tennenbaum Capital Partners, LLC, Santa Monica; Reis, Inc. (NASDAQ: REIS), a New York-based real estate information company; and Grandpont Capital, a $1 billion Los Angeles-based bank holding company with $350 million in capital commitments. He chairs the Audit Committees of all three firms and is a member of other committees including Transaction, Compensation and Nominating and Corporate Governance and Risk committees. He is formerly director of two multi-billion dollar bank holding companies: one public and one private equity sponsored.

Mr. Mitchell has served as an adjunct professor of accounting and is currently a guest lecturer at the University of Redlands. In addition, Mr. Mitchell is a board member and Chapter President of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), Southern California and for 2011 designated a NACD Board Leadership Fellow. In 2011 Mr. Mitchell was named \\\"one of the 100 most influential people in corporate governance\\\" by Directorship magazine.  Mr. Mitchell is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Alabama.
